My Server is Completely Unreachable
From Ubiquity Server Wiki
Oh no! In the event that your server goes completely unreachable, there's a process to getting it back online in the quickest way possible.
- First, make sure it's really totally unreachable through SSH or RDP on the correct port
- Most support requests we get about unreachable servers are really cases where Apache has crashed, where a reboot would actually cause more downtime
- Next, make sure there was not a Ubiquity network maintenance announcement you may have overlooked
- Any maintenance that impacts service is sent via email to those effected as well, however these commonly get misplaced
- If you are using a firewall, consider the possibility that you may be blocked individually.. attempt access from another location if possible.
- If things look down and your self-managed server is still offline, attempt a remote restart
- See Accessing Remote Reboot for dedicated/colocation or How to Reboot your VPS for VPS
- Allow time for the system to return. Depending on what loads at boot, this can take between 5 minutes and 60 minutes
- If the server does not come back online, contact our support department right away
- When contacting our support, please clarify the most recent things you have done on the server. This saves a lot of time.
- It's often necessary at this time to provide root / Administrator credentials if the server has passed the BIOS and is still unrecoverable
- If you have multiple kernals installed on your system and the default may not work, let our staff know this up-front
